We baked the fairy cakes using a simple Victoria Sandwich Mixture, and we added a lot of red food colouring!
We then made a simple glace icing, with even more red food colouring and covered the cakes.
All they then needed was a little heart on a chocolate disc, and a love token.
I packaged them each in an individual bag tied with ribbon.
The other little girls all enjoyed them.
I bought the cake cases in John Lewis, and in Waitrose
Very red icing
A mini decorating line
We put wrapped chocolate hearts on some
They looked very pretty wrapped and ready to go
I just love the little tokens, and I'm looking out for some Easter themed ones.
Perfect! I love the wrapping you did, too!
ReplyDeleteStunning little cakes - no wonder they went down well! I'd love to show my Son 2 - he's big into food presentation (which is important, as he's a very fussy eater and if he's taken time over making and presenting something he's more likely to eat it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment - it made me want to show you the foxglove conversation, as recorded by Elizabethd at French Village Life! I can't seem to get the link, but if you search for 'foxglove' on her blog it comes straight up.
I can't emphasise how much those little tarts taste like mince pies. Anyone expecting a standard meat pie would be most surprised!
Lovely bright icing and I love the decorating set and the wrapping too :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty, Jude!
ReplyDeleteLove the wrapping too..how fun for both of you!

Beautiful in red, and I bet they got a fantastic reaction at school! This has given me an idea for a cake sale I have coming up this Thursday and I much prefer glade icing to buttercream. Have a great weekend xx
ReplyDeleteAw those are sweet!
ReplyDeleteI bet you were a hit at school. Love how you packaged them beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThank you all, we had such fun decorating them. I bought the bags from Lakelad, with a little bit of ribbon they can make an individual cake look that little bit more special. Jude x
ReplyDelete(St Patrick day next, and my little girl's teacher is Irish, so I'm hoping to make something really good this year, I've just ordered some green shamrock cake sprinkles!)

ReplyDeleteOh these are so cute! I'm sure the kids enjoyed them!!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet - and it can be so tricky to get such a vibrant red icing colour too.
ReplyDeleteWell of course they would have enjoyed them, especially individually packaged. They look gorgeous Jude
